History, nature and creativity in one place
The first document mentioning Can Clos dates back to 1280. Over the centuries, the farmhouse has preserved its rural and architectural character, with features such as the large stone arch doorway, Gothic windows and the noble hall, which still today reflect its historic past. Located in La Cellera de Ter, surrounded by fields and forests, Can Clos is a unique space that combines history and functionality.
Since 2013, it has operated as a cultural centre and creative residency managed by IDEA Cultural Association. During this time, it has hosted artists, researchers and collectives developing projects linked to artistic creation, research on nature and landscape, culture and heritage, as well as initiatives with social and community impact.
The farmhouse offers large spaces adapted for contemporary creation: open halls, multipurpose rooms, workshops, resident accommodation and extensive outdoor land that enables work in direct contact with nature. Altogether, it provides an environment suitable for both individual work and collective processes.
Can Clos is also the headquarters of the IDEA Cultural Association, which is part of networks such as Pam a Pam, XarxaProd and Ateneus Cooperatius, and has carried out activities in collaboration with national and international artists and institutions. From concerts and exhibitions to European projects such as Erasmus+ and Creative Europe, IDEA’s trajectory has established Can Clos as a cultural reference point in the region.
Creative residencies are temporary, with a maximum duration of twelve months, and are open to artists, researchers and collectives from around the world. Each residency is linked to a specific project —an artwork, a collective process, research or a community action— and is formalised through an agreement with the association. Residencies for 2025 are already full, and the call for 2026 will open soon.
Can Clos is a space with history and continuity that offers creators the opportunity to develop their projects in a natural and cultural environment with over seven centuries of documented history and more than a decade of experience as a cultural and residency centre.
